Twas a delightful New Year. Doug, Steve, Kels, and Katie all came out (well, Katie was already out) to Waukegan. We mulled over what to do cos of not-so-great weather, and decided that, since we had the reservations already, we might as well still go down town.
Well, turned out the weather was perfect. A little breezy, but not cold. We walked around downtown, out to Millennium Park. We had reservations at The Park Grill for 6, but went in at 5 and they sat us, so we just had drinks and appetizers and chatted. The food was kickass, and I had the best apple pie I've ever eaten for dessert.
We then wandered back to the train station and headed home to Waukegan. The rest of the night was made of up Mario Kart, drinking, and playing Cinderella playing cards.
I think most of us took our pants off.
We all crashed around 3:30, which was fine, except poor Katie had to work at 11 Monday, and was up at 8.
The rest of the crew headed out around 11:30 and I was left to my devices (see: video games) for the rest of the day.
Not a bad way to bring in the New Year if you ask me.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I want some breakfast.

Yesterday morning, as I was getting dressed, my pale purple shirt seemed to go just fine with my gray striped pants. As I looked in the mirror, I was a little skeptical, but I'm sexy, so it was ok. Then when I got to work and saw myself in the full length mirror of the bathroom, I realized that they didn't go together that well. I felt a little awkward for the rest of the day.
My parents got me this sweet tea set from Teavana.

They also included a medley of different teas. A few white teas, a green tea, a black tea, and a red tea (which I didn't even know existed) . So far, I've had a black tea that had raspberry blossoms in it (excellent) and white tea with cherry blossoms (amazing) and this morning a red tea with toffee, chocolate, and hazelnut in it (divine).
I was a tea guy before, but now I'm truly a lover of teas.
I'm pretty excited for New Years. Katie, Kelsey, Steve, Doug, and mayhaps Poole and I will be spending Sunday downtown (assuming the weather is butt-tastic) and we have reservations at The Park Grill, a really nice restaurant right on Michigan Ave. on the edge of Millennium Park.
I believe the plan afterwards is to come back to my apartment and play Mario. Sweet.
My dad turns 51 today. He's old, yet still has alot of spunk. I'm pretty sure he could still beat me in racquet ball. Happy b-day Dad!
Have a great New Year's everyone!

It's Tuesday night. I'm finally home from a great long xmasy weekend with friends and family. I burned my pizza, but it still tasted pretty good. I was going to try and keep this thing updated a bit more but it would appear that I haven't been doing a good job.
Oop, hold on, need to put in the next CD to import (we'll discuss this later).
Ok good to go.
So, let's start with Friday, as that was the first day my little vacation began.
Friday, December 22, 2006
I'd say I slept in, and I did, but it was only till about 8:30. That, to me, is sleeping in, and I enjoyed it. I began my day in the usual way: Shower, breakfast, videogames. I really didn't have much to do besides wait for Katie to be done with classes and drive out to LITH then to Waukegan. I still had to buy Iska's b-day present, so I went to the mall to do so. It wasn't very crowded, as I expected it would be. I thought about shopping about for myself, but then decided it wasn't the best time to do so.
Cut to about 1:30 pm. Katie calls to say she's just getting on the road, so she won't make it here by 5. That's cool though, cos the train leaves at 6:10 and every hour thereafter on the :10.
Cut to 5 ish. Katie calls to tell me she got diverted due to an accident, made a wrong turn, ended up down a dirt (mud) road and got her car stuck when she tried to turn around. She had gotten pulled out by the cops a half our later and was finally on her way home to LITH.
Cut to 6:30. Katie finally gets here, we decide it's too late, and we're too hungry, to head out to Chicago, so we just go to a nice Japanese place in Libertyville and have sushi and stuff cooked on our table and our chef was a really cool young guy from South Korea who had lots of stories. We rounded out the night with a few episodes of What Not To Wear, and then bed.
Saturday, December 23, 2006
Katie had a shopping date with her Grandma, and then later her mom, so we had some leftover Japanese food from the night before and got all cleaned up for the day. Then she headed home and I packed up all my gifts for everyone and the rest of my stuff plus my cat and headed to my parent's house.
Hung out there with them for the day, my sis and I made dinner (I grilled some steaks, she made rice and green beans) for my parents who were out test driving a new car. Soaked in the hot tub a little bit, then watched Taladega Nights with me mum and pop. Funny movie.
Sunday, December 24, 2006
I got suckered into going to Church with the fam (plus the Rozelles and my aunt and two cousins and Katie). I won't really go into it, because we all know my stance on such, but I went for my mom, because it makes her happy.
We had a nice buffet brunch at the Cary Country Club after that, who stayed open just for us and we had the whole place to ourselves.
A couple naps later and my Granny, Poppa, and Aunt Gin arrived and we sat around, talking, sipping a fine single malt scotch. We had a great dinner of ham, corn casserole, and mashed potatoes.
After they left, we had our traditional christmas viewing of A Muppet's Christmas Carol. Man I love that movie. Then it was off to bed with sugar plums and strippers dancing in our heads.
Monday, December 25, 2006
PRESENTS!!!! I got some cool stuff. I gave some cool stuffs. Turk loved his collapsable fort that I got him. He's sitting in it right now.
We all went over to my aunt and uncle's in the afternoon where my whole mom's side of the family was. Sat around talking, giving/getting gifts. Then had another excellent dinner.
I went over to Katie's later and watched Pirates 2 with her mom, dad, and bro. Great movie. I then crashed there, cos I had a little too much wine.
Tuesday, December 26, 2006
Thank god I took today off work. It would have sucked working today. work...suck. I went home, cleaned up, then met Katie for some Thai for lunch. We then parted ways and I came back to Waukegan. I went out to use up my gift cards and got myself 6 awesome new CDs (Saosin, Blood Brothers, Rise Against, Coheed[a string tribute], Mars Volta, and Built to Spill) and have been importing them this whole time.
I'm about to head out to Liz's for an xmas party. It's the old highschool gang. I've grown farther apart from those guys every year, but it's always good to see them.
So I'll catch you cats later, hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday.
Peace.

No, not like the swimming stroke, like using a puppy as a club to beat someone.
That being said, man do I dislike work. I have yet to figure out if this is what all work is like, maybe just the corporate world, or what the deal really is. All I know is: I don't like it.
I don't like the system. I don't like the man. But I do like the pay, and the benefits, and the fact that they are fairly flexible on work time and I get plenty of paid time off.
So this is why I'm torn. I mean, I think I have it pretty good here, compared to where 90% of kids end up out of college. But I'm not happy. And that's pretty important too.
I plan on changing things. I just don't know when. Should I just suck it up for now, earn some good money, and wait a while till I can use my experience here to go back to school and learn to do something I actually enjoy? Should I stop now, find something I like and deal with whatever income I end up with? It seems impractical to leave this job with out something else in mind. Problem is, in order to get a job I'd enjoy, I'll probably need more school. Which is why that is the plan right now.
I think part of the thign I hate is that I'm spread really thin. My team is small, so I have to cover alot of bases. I don't get to focus on any one thing, so I'm not particularly good at anything, just kinda good at lots of things. More school, especially a masters, seems like it would hone my skills and help me focus on being really good at one thing. Then all I'd need to do is find a job where I can do that one thing.
Time will tell.
Other than that, life has been going pretty well. Poor Katie has been sick for over a month now, but I think things are finally starting to hit the upswing. Hopefully it will be quick and then will stay healthy.
Helping Paws is moving into their new location this weekend. It's quite an amazing new shelter, more than twice as big as the old one, and with lots of room for medical stuff, play space, and spacious kenels. I'm gonna help them move on Saturday. I hope it's not blizarding.
I want Panera for lunch. It's like a little treat for me, cos it's so damn good. So I'll do that today.
That's all. Later.

I've not posted here in ages, but seeing as some people still read this, I figure I can just double post both here and on mySpace. So here's my latest.
I Fucking Hate You
Actually, chances are if you're reading this, I don't. But if anyone else happens to read this, there is a very good chance that I do indeed, fucking hate them.
Here's why:
Stupid people make this world a worse place to live. A world full of ignorance and sheepitude (it's a word, look it up). When a stupid person acts, two things happen.
1) Some smart person see this action and realizes they can abuse their intelligence and forceably control the stupid person.
2) Other stupid people see this action and view it as being correct, legit, or otherwise acceptable.
Both of these suck. It fuels stupidity. (By the way, you're an idiot, you actually looked up sheepitude, it's not a word...duh.)
This has been my feeling for quite some time, and those closest to me share in my distaste for the idiotic. My most recent distressing incident to bring about this rant is as follows.
Microsoft Inc has been preying on the stupid pretty much since they were established. They have stolen ideas, designs, and about everything else you can steal (like cars and bread) and presented it to stupid people who eat it up.
All this while, the smart people see that there are other options out there. And I'm not just speaking from a Mac user's perspective. Sure, that is one example: A complete machine that is better. But also in smaller components.
I program for a living. If I could choose who to do so, my life would be a billion times easier. I would program in Java. They have an amazingly well documented language that just plain and simple works. And it's powerful and adaptable.
Microsoft has the .NET suite, which contains several languages all that are supposed to seemlessly interact with one another. Sadly, .NET sucks balls. But it is what I am forced to program in. Their documentation library (MSDN) is slightly useful at most. They're getting closer to an actual good, powerful, easy to use language though. It's called C.. (Read: See Sharp). It's basically a clone of Java with Microsoft stamped on it and marked to retards.
Next example.
Firefox is the best browser available in the world. That's not an opinion. It is the most customizable, most secure, most user friends, and fastest browser you can find. And what more, it's free! And has the largest support network full of other users and developers ever.
Microsoft (finally) released IE7. The stupid people all downloaded it. Why? Because their prepackaged shit boxes from Dell and HP all had Windows XP preinstalled on it. IE7 is years behind firefox. Microsoft took around 3 years to finally implement proper security features, tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, and anti-phishing measures. And guess what? They all pale in comparison to the same features (most of which have been around for years) in Firefox. But go ahead stupid people, keep using IE7.
My last is just pure frustration. You've probably heard about the Zune, Microsoft's new portable music player. It was designed to be held up next to the iPod. Unfortunately, it sucks balls. But it has WiFi, you say. WiFi that allows your friends with a Zune to hear a song that you have on your Zune....three times... Yea, cos that's useful. And guess what else!! Microsoft is such a dumb ass company that they've actually made the Zune, their new state of the art mp3 player, incompatible with Windows Vista, their new state of the art OS.
Yea, you heard me. The Zune is incompatible with Vista. Why the fuck would you do that?! Worst business move ever.
But it's ok, stupid people will buy the Zune. And they'll probably buy Vista, only to realize they don't have a 64 bit processor and buy a new computer from Dell to compensate. And then they'll complain when their Zune doesn't work with their new computer.
Fuck you stupid people, go to hell.

Gray pants and pale purple shirts are one of my standbys. If you thought prima facie that they went together fine, you were probably right, and your second-guessing is just a sign of lack of confidence. If you are ever unsure as to what color shirt to wear with gray pants, look at all the gray ties you own/see in a store. Look at the colors they throw in with them. Most often, that's purple. Second most popular is probably blue and/or navy. Black is (almost) always a good top color, as is burgundy, and a less-than bold red or even a pale orange, provided you have the right tie, would also be great. Just be careful to never overdue stripes. Pale pinstripes and striped tie are ok. http://men.style.com/gq/fashion/styleguy
This doesn't make me ghey.

I think the main problem was they gray pants were not solid gray. because of the look of the pants (I don't know how to define them) and the plaid style of the shirt, the clashing occurs.
I am a frequent watcher of What Not To Wear so I am fairly informed when it comes to fashion ideas. I'm not sure what went wrong here.

What not to wear is far to easy. Everyone that goes on it is clueless. Try GQ's style guy online. It's for guys who know what they're doing, but occasionally need a little bit of advice. And plaid or checked is always dangerous. At least you weren't wearing that with pinstripes. Also, your style is uber sexy, esp. your shoes.

And plaid or checked is always dangerous. At least you weren't wearing that with pinstripes. Also, your style is uber sexy, esp. your shoes.
